Hikers on the Cinque Terre trail (you might recognize one or two of them).
Photos taken July 10, 2009
Ginny, Genann, and Mike took the high road (literally) and hiked the 8 mile Cinque Terre (5 towns on the Ligurian Sea (an arm of the Mediterranean Sea). We were about a thousand feet above sea level at the highest point. The first two sections of the trip were "leg wobblers and shirt soakers" especially the first leg (Monterosso to Vernazza). The trio of hikers climbed nearly straight up 800 to 1000 feet one step at a time before leveling off for an up and down rocky 2 mile (2 hr. hike to Vernazza). The rest of the 8 mile hike was just as fun filled. Actually, the views were stunning and beautiful. This hike will be remembered forever (thanks to taking some pain killers at the end of the day).
Bob and Sarah were the intelligent pair and stayed in Levanto for some real rest and relaxation. Thanks to them we have fresh clothes to wear for the next several days. They had the luxury of washing the clothes in a modern High Effiency washer (not) and drying was done the old fashioned way (clothes line and pins).
All in all a great day for all!
