This church was built in 1318, in Ligurian Gothic style. The church has three aisles, and was remodeled sometime in the 16th and 17tth centuries. The piers, holding up the ceiling, are black stone from the surrounding mountains.
Legend states that the church was built and named for Saint Margaret, whose remains were found on the beach, in a box.
